Sat, May 1, 2004 - 4:46 PMOoops damn - wrong post!!!!!!!!!
Anyway, is it me or is Sterling threatening to abandon SF altogether for the (more lucrative) world of the techno-thriller? -

Mon, May 3, 2004 - 8:20 AMThat seems to be the way that all the old cyberpunk writers are going. I guess they are needing money to put their kids through college.

Just finished it.
It was very different from his ofther fiction. It was more like a fictionalized version of his Wired articles. It revolves entirely around cyber security right after 9/11.
All in all, very tame, and not much of a "thriller". The main character was interesting, but again, it could have been someone right off the pages of Wired.
In fact, after I finished reading his book, I grabbed the latest issue of Wired and read his column. What was it about? Cyber security, of course!
Sterling wants a Hacker Crackdown of a different color. -

Re: Zenith Angle
Sun, August 8, 2004 - 7:17 AMWhat is the name of the main character in Zenith Angle? Sound like a good book. I've always liked Sterling. I have read The Artificial Kid, and several others. I really liked the Artificial Kid, for its time it must have turned quite a few heads. It was about a combat artist with a roving 720 degree camera that floated above him and recorded his every move sending them directly to the net. He then was genetically transformed due to toxicity of his environment. Very cool stuff. Bruce was one of the first to mention Tangle Guns in his books as well, a technology that appears in I Robot and which is beginning to be used in reality. Cool Beans
Anyway, have fun, and don't blow apart any molecules you can't re-assemble -
